It is now overseen by the Winchester Town Day Committee\, a group of volunteers who come together each year with the sole purpose of holding a celebration for the Winchester community. \nThe thousands of individuals and families who attend can enjoy a day of browsing exhibits\, playing games\, competing in athletics\, eating(!)\, listening to different types of music\, attending the health fair\, and watching the grand finale\, fireworks. \nNow in its 43rd consecutive year\, Town Day continues to grow in popularity as a great way to kick off the summer in a New England town! \nEach year the Committee tries to recruit new volunteers. Scheduled for the third weekend in May\, it has grown from a single ride and a few games into a much anticipated occasion. Generations of families in Winchester and surrounding communities have attended and continue to support tradition. The Fair is our primary source of fundraising dollars and funds raised support our Grants\, Social Service\, Pantry and community outreach programs during the year.\nIn May\, 1935 the En Ka Society held its first street fair. It was a novelty to Winchester and was a huge success\, attracting thousands. The first fair was held in the parking lot at the rear of Town Hall\, running from Washington Street to what is now known as Sandy’s Island. Brightly painted posts\, balloons\, and a sign marked the entrance to the “street.”\nContinuing to this day\, the En Ka Fair marks the beginning of summer for many citizens\, old and young alike.
